2nd Annual Golf Scramble
2nd Annual Golf Scramble
October 23
It’s just around the corner.
The Ron Weigleb Foundation, on behalf of the Weigleb family, would like to thank everyone for their continued support. Last year’s 1st Annual Golf Scramble was a huge success and everybody had a great time. Coach would have loved it! More importantly, through the success of the golf scramble, our major fundraiser, and your continued support to the foundation, we were able to accomplish a great deal this first year.
Here’s a look at what’s been done so far:
The foundation designed and purchased the Ron Weigleb Stadium sign at the newly constructed Floyd Central Football field.
A $5000 scholarship was presented by Jan Weigleb during Floyd Central’s class night, the foundation donated one of the largest scholarships at Floyd Central to a graduating senior, Meghan Jones. The scholarship application is open to any graduating senior planning to attend college and must be a member of the football team or on the girl’s track team as a high jumper.
To be unveiled at the first home football game this season, the foundation coordinated, designed, and purchased two bronze plaques. One commemorating Ron Weigleb and the other for Glenn Scott.
The foundation has committed funds to the Highlander Youth Football League. During the first home game of the season, Jan Weigleb will present donation to the Highlander Youth Football League. The youth league players will have the opportunity to wear their team jerseys and form a tunnel for the Highlander football team to run through.
It’s also been decided to present a donation to a local Southern Indiana family who is currently fighting cancer.
The Ron Weigleb Foundation and the Weigleb family are pleased with what has been accomplished with your support. With guidance from the Weigleb family, every decision is based on this - “What would Coach think was right?”…and…“is it first class?” We believe we’ve been successful in answering that.
But we’re not done!
With your help, the Ron Weigleb Foundation will continue to ensure the principals, values, and legacy of Coach Weigleb are carried on. Our long-term vision is to increase the size of The Ron Weigleb Scholarship, and that the scholarship will continue to support deserving student-athletes in our community.
Additionally, the foundation will continue to seek out ways your donations can help our local community.
We can’t wait to see you at the 2nd Annual Golf Scramble on October 23. Sponsorship space is still available!
Contact Phillip Lockhart at pslockhart@aol.com about sponsoring the scramble, playing in the scramble, or with any questions about the golf scramble. I can email you a registration form.
Thanks Again!

Ron Weigleb Stadium Dedication Festivities Planned
Just a quick reminder to everyone that the new Ron Weigleb Stadium will be dedicated this Friday night at the Floyd Central vs. Providence game. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Dedication will be just before kick off. Please let everyone know about this game, we want to have an awesome turn out and pack the new stadium. The school will be providing extra seating around the track, we want to fill this up as well.
To ALL FORMER F.C. FOOTBALL PLAYERS ONLY....Coach Glesing is wanting former players to come down in the locker room before the game starts. Brian Weimer is going to talk to the team for just a couple of minutes before they go out. We would like to have as many former players there as we can. Please meet on the sidewalk behind the stadium at 6:30 p.m. sharp!!! Glesing wants us in there no later than 6:40. After he finishes talking we are going to form a tunnel of former players for the team to walk through. Please look for either myself (Phillip Lockhart), Brian Weimer, John Agan, Critter Thompson, or Andrew Ragland and we will show you where the new locker room is.
We will also be filming the dedication and will be selling copies of the film with the proceeds going towards the Ron Weigleb Foundation. The film crew will be looking to interview any former players, former coaches, parents of players/students, friends of coach, co-workers, etc... Please look for the table set up in the concrete area next to the concession stands if you would like to purchase a video.
We will also have registration forms for the First Annual Ron Weigleb Foundation Golf Scramble. The date for the scramble is Oct. 24 at Hidden Creek, so mark your calendars! If you are unable to attend the game this weekend and you want to play in the scramble or sponsor a hole please email me at pslockhart@aol.com and I will send you a registration form.
Thanks,
Phillip Lockhart

Golf Scramble Date & Halfway to Stadium Sign Goal!
Hello Everyone,
Just an update of what we have done with the money we have rasied so far.
For those of you who have already contributed to the Ron Weigleb Foundation we would like to thank you for your donations. With the money that we have raised so far we have been able to pay for half of the sign. We still are in need of the other half of the money by the end of the month. So, for those of you who haven't yet contributed there is still time. If you are unable to donate at this time we understand and please pass this letter along to anyone else that may want to donate.
We have raised about $4,000 to date. Please think about how you can best contribute and send in those donations. If each one of us in this group would donate $50 to the fund we would reach our goal to pay for the sign and the plaques plus have some left over for our next project. Please give what you can and if you are in a postion to give more than this that would be great.

Ron Weigleb Foundation-UPDATE
This was posted as a message to members of the Facebook Group for the Ron Weigleb Stadium by Phil Lockhart today:
RON WEIGLEB FOUNDATION
Our Mission
The mission of the Ron Weigleb Foundation is to ensure the principals, values, and legacy of Coach Weigleb are carried on for the youth of our community. To accomplish this endeavor, the Weigleb family along with former coaches and players have formed a committee to fundraise and donate to the football stadium, football program and all other projects determined by the committee that best serve the wishes and memory of Coach Weigleb.
Finances
Donations should be made to the Ron Weigleb Foundation account at Republic Bank at Highlander Point. All money raised will be spent on projects directly related to the Ron Weigleb Stadium, the Coach Weigleb Scholarship, or other ideas and requests as they develop. Each committee member will be responsible for overseeing the spending and allocation of donated funds. All donations will be a charitable donation, please send Phillip Lockhart an email for Tax ID#.
Current Projects
Currently, the school corporation has approved the new stadium to be named “Ron Weigleb Stadium.” The field will keep its original name “Scott Field.” A sign has been designed for placement on the press box. In order to comply with conditions and constraints by the manufacturer of the press box, the design is RON WEIGLEB STADIUM and consists of 18” dark green letters, which will be back lit. The current design will be presented to the Weigleb family and must get final approval from the Floyd Central High School administration. The cost of the sign will be $8000.
Also, we have been asked to furnish two bronze plaques in honor of Coach Weigleb and the Scott family. The purpose of the plaques are to let people know and make them aware of the importance of these two people to the history of Floyd Central. The plaques will be approximately 22” x 30” and will have a brief description of the importance of these two people. Each plaque will have and engraved picture of each person. We hope to have the plaques available by the stadium dedication and eventually mounted to the brick columns at the entrance to the stadium. The estimated cost is $7000. The Scott Field will be dedicated at the first game against Clarksville and Ron Weigleb Stadium will be dedicated on the second home game against Providence. (This was coaches last request)
The above funds are needed as soon as possible so that work may begin and get done before the first game.
Future Projects
After the above stated projects have been completed, the foundation committee would like to erect a bronze life-size statue of Coach Weigleb at the new stadium. The estimated cost is $60,000.
The foundation will also begin sponsoring an annual golf scramble in October to raise money for the Coach Weigleb Scholarship Fund and other foundation projects such as the statue. More information on the location and date for the scramble will be available in the future.

First Post
This was copied from the Ron Weigleb Stadium Facebook Group, per Phil Lockhart:
There has been a bank account set up to raise money for the signage bronze
statue that we are trying to get built. The bank is Republic Bank (it was stated
as Regional bank in a prior post, sorry for the mistake) across the street from
Highlander Point in Floyds Knobs. Please make checks payable to: Weigleb Stadium
Fund. You can make your donation in person or by mail:
Republic Bank
c/o Weigleb Stadium Fund
4571 Duffy Rd.
Floyds Knobs, IN 47119.
Our first goal is to raise enough money for the new sign and a long term
goal is to have the statue built. Once I have prices on the sign I will post an
update here.
I will be in contact with some of you individually over the
next week to try and rally the troops to raise some money. If we could get each
class that played for coach over the 20+ years that he coached to raise around
$2k-$3k/class we would be close to the amount that we need to cover the cost of
sign and statue.
I am also looking for people to donate thier time and
any special skills they may have to help make this a success.
I am
planning a golf scramble for sometime in August and will keep you posted on the
final date for it. This may or may not happen, if we do it we want it to be a
success.
Please feel free to contact me via facebook, my personal email
pslockhart@aol.com, or at weiglebstadiumfund@gmail.com with any questions you
may have or with any donation updates.
